Questions

Everything you need to know about planning your Jewish wedding with Bisheret.

Getting Started

How does Bisheret work?

Bisheret is a Jewish wedding planning platform connecting couples with trusted vendors — photographers, caterers, florists, venues, and more — who specialise in Jewish and kosher weddings.

Here's how it works in three steps:

  • Discover — Browse our directory of verified Jewish wedding vendors, filtered by city, category, and budget.
  • Plan — Use free tools including our wedding checklist, budget calculator, guest list manager, and inspiration board.
  • Connect — Message vendors directly through the platform and request quotes without sharing your personal email.
💡 Create a free account to save vendors, sync your checklist across devices, and build your personalised wedding website.
Is Bisheret free to use?

Yes — Bisheret is completely free for couples. You can browse vendors, use all planning tools, build a wedding website, manage your guest list, and message vendors at no cost.

Vendors pay a small listing fee to appear in our directory, which is how we keep the platform free for you.

Do I need to create an account?

You can browse vendors and read articles without an account. However, creating a free account unlocks:

  • Saving favourite vendors to your shortlist
  • Syncing your wedding checklist across devices
  • Managing your guest list and RSVPs
  • Building your free personalised wedding website
  • Messaging vendors directly

Sign up takes under a minute — just an email address and a password.

Which cities does Bisheret cover?

We currently have vendor listings across the following cities:

  • New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Philadelphia
  • Toronto, Montreal, London, Melbourne, Tel Aviv
  • Jerusalem, Paris, Johannesburg, Buenos Aires

We're expanding regularly. If your city isn't listed, let us know and we'll prioritise it — or you can apply to list your business and be among the first in your area.

Finding Vendors

Are the vendors on Bisheret kosher-certified?

Many of our caterers and venue vendors hold kosher certification, and we display their certification level (Mehadrin, OU, CRC, etc.) prominently on their profile.

That said, not every vendor category requires kashrut — photographers and florists, for example, are listed based on their experience with Jewish ceremonies rather than kashrut.

🔍 Use the "Kosher certified" filter on the vendor directory to show only certified caterers and venues.
How do I contact a vendor?

Every vendor profile has a Send Message button. You can send a free-form enquiry or use our quote request form, which prompts you for key details like wedding date, guest count, and budget.

Vendors typically respond within 24–48 hours. If a vendor hasn't replied in 72 hours, you'll see a nudge to try another vendor from your shortlist.

How do I know a vendor is reliable?

We vet every vendor before they appear in the directory. Our verification checks include:

  • Business registration confirmation
  • Sample portfolio or menu review
  • Response rate monitoring

Vendors who complete our additional verification process receive a ✓ Verified green badge on their profile.

You can also read reviews left by real Bisheret couples on each vendor profile.

Can I leave a review for a vendor I used?

Yes! After your wedding date passes, you'll receive an email inviting you to review each vendor you enquired through Bisheret. Reviews are verified — we only accept reviews from couples who actually contacted the vendor through our platform.

You can also leave a review directly from the vendor's profile page at any time.

Does Bisheret handle payments to vendors?

No — Bisheret is a discovery and communication platform. All payments, contracts, and deposits are arranged directly between you and the vendor. We recommend always signing a written contract before paying any deposit.

Planning Tools

What planning tools does Bisheret offer?

Your free Bisheret account includes:

How does the Jewish Date Checker work?

Our Jewish Date Checker converts any Gregorian date to its Hebrew calendar equivalent and checks for restrictions that affect when Jewish weddings can take place.

It will flag dates that fall during:

  • The Omer period (between Pesach and Shavuot)
  • The Three Weeks (between 17 Tammuz and Tisha B'Av)
  • Sefirah restrictions
  • Jewish holidays and Shabbat
📅 Always confirm specific minhag (custom) restrictions with your rabbi, as practices vary between communities.
Can I build a free wedding website?

Yes! Every Bisheret couple gets a free personalised wedding website at bisheret.com/wedding/your-names. It includes:

  • Your story and photos
  • Wedding schedule (ceremony, cocktail hour, reception)
  • Your Hebrew wedding date
  • RSVP form linked to your guest list
  • Registry links
  • WhatsApp and social sharing

Get started from your My Wedding dashboard.

Is my data private and secure?

Yes. Your guest list, budget details, and personal information are stored securely and are never sold to third parties. We take GDPR and CCPA compliance seriously.

Read our full Privacy Policy for details.

For Couples

How far in advance should I start planning my Jewish wedding?

We recommend starting 12–18 months before your intended date. Here's why:

  • Popular venues and photographers book up fast — especially around yom tov dates.
  • You need time to check your date against the Jewish calendar (see our Date Checker).
  • Kosher caterers often have capacity limits and seasonal demand.

If your timeline is shorter, it's still very doable — start with date and venue first, then caterer, then photography.

📋 Use our checklist — it's sorted by time remaining so you know exactly what to focus on now.
Can Bisheret help with both Ashkenazi and Sephardi weddings?

Absolutely. We have vendors experienced with weddings across all Jewish communities — Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Mizrahi, Yemenite, Persian, and more. Many vendor profiles specify which communities they regularly work with.

Use the Community filter in the vendor directory to narrow your search.

What is the Bisheret Awards?

The Bisheret Awards 2026 recognise the top Jewish wedding vendors of the year, as voted by couples. Categories include Best Photographer, Best Caterer, Best Florist, Best Venue, and more.

Winners receive a digital badge for their profile and promotional features across the platform. Nominations open annually — nominate a vendor you loved.

Can I use Bisheret if I'm planning a destination wedding in Israel?

Yes! We have vendors listed in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and other Israeli cities. We're expanding our Israeli vendor directory throughout 2026.

For destination weddings, we also recommend using our virtual venue tour feature to explore spaces before you travel — available on select venue profiles.
